Justin Prettyman 49ers Foundation

You know it’s a great day when you get to sit down with someone as accomplished and insightful as Justin Prettyman. Justin is the Executive Director of the 49ers Foundation for the San Francisco 49ers, and he joins the podcast to talk about two things he’s passionate about: Sports and Philanthropy.

Here are three key takeaways from our conversation with Justin Prettyman:

1. Money isn’t everything… even when it involves philanthropy.

Writing a check is a great way to empower a charity or organization, but it’s not the only way you can contribute. Justin talks about the importance of “sweat equity” as a powerful way to contribute to an organization and how to serve a community.

2. Don’t strive to be the best, strive to get better.

There is no such thing as perfect and that means there is always room for improvement. Justin reflects on some of the best advice he received in sports and life and talks about the importance of having fun and getting better every time you’re on the field.

3. Professional Sports organizations have tremendous influence on their communities.

Imagine the impact of seeing your favorite teams participate as active members in your community and what It would have meant to you as a kid. Justin talks about the importance of professional organizations being active members within their communities and the impact they can have on uplifting the youth in their communities.
